Grok Bot Now Takes Big Files and Long Videos

Quick answer

Grok Bot now accepts files up to 250 MB and videos up to 1 GB, per xAI's official changelog. What that means for family paperwork and home videos.

What was announced

xAI's official Grok Bot changelog for version 0.71.2 (October 14) says you can now attach files up to 250 MB and videos up to 1 GB, that one message can carry up to 20 attachments instead of 6, and that the Bot tells you when a video is too large to watch. It requires Grok Bot 0.70.2 or later. On October 20, Elon Musk shared a post about the update with the words "Grok @Bot upgrades."

Why it matters at home

Family paperwork is often big: scanned medical and school records, insurance policies, mortgage packets and tax files. Before this, large files had to be split or compressed first. Now a thick PDF or a long phone video can go to your Bot as it is.

Good to know

Size limits are per file, and very long videos can still be too large for the Bot to watch; it will tell you when that happens. Keep sensitive documents in private chats and decide where the Bot may save or share them.
