The problem it solves
Tax forms come in the mail, in email, and behind logins from January to April. Last year's return sits in a drawer. Nobody looks at it again. This guide has Grok Bot read it next to your forms. It writes down anything worth asking your preparer about.
What you get
- A “second look” at last year's return. Grok Bot checks the math against your W-2s and lists questions for your preparer. Each one shows the page it came from and an IRS page that explains it.
- A checklist for this year's tax forms, built from last year's return.
- A weekly check from January to April. It saves tax forms from your email to one folder in your Google Drive.
- A one-page report and a draft email to your preparer. Nothing is sent or filed without you.
- Free bonus: SAMPLE practice files. They are made-up tax papers for a made-up family, with no real SSNs. Practice on them first.
Routines it sets up
| Routine | When | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Tax Forms Sweep | Mondays 9 AM, only Jan 5 to Apr 30 | New tax forms saved to your Drive, plus a list of forms you need to sign in and download |
| Tax Packet Check | Mondays 9:30 AM, only Jan 5 to Apr 30 | What's still missing, or a note that your packet looks complete |
What you need
- A Grok Bot plan (Premium or higher) from x.ai. The free plan and the Plus plan don't include Grok Bot.
- The Grok Bot app on your computer, to set up the routines.
- Google Drive, connected in Grok Bot. Your tax files stay in your own Drive.
- Gmail, connected (helpful, not a must). It finds tax forms in your email and drafts the note to your preparer.
- Last year's federal tax return as a PDF, with every page. Your preparer or tax software can give you a copy.
- The forms behind it, like W-2s, 1099s, and childcare receipts.
- A black marker or a redact tool. You black out every Social Security number before you upload.
Keep your info safe
- Black out every Social Security number before you upload anything. Grok Bot does not need it. The guide shows you how.
- Your files stay in your own Google Drive, in a folder called Taxes. We never see them.
- Grok Bot asks before it sends, shares, or deletes anything. The email to your preparer stays a draft.
- When you finish, Grok Bot lists any tax files left on its computer and asks to delete them.

The setup prompt is inside the PDF. Grok Bot asks before it sends, shares, or deletes anything. It never files.
Questions
Is this tax advice?
No. Organizing help, not tax advice. We are not tax preparers. You and your preparer decide and file. The guide helps you sort your papers and make a list of questions. Your preparer or tax software decides what goes on your return.
Will I get a refund?
We do not promise a refund or any dollar amount. Some reviews find nothing. Some find you owe more. Grok Bot can also be wrong. Every item it finds is a question for your preparer, not an answer.
Do I have to share my Social Security number?
No. Black out every Social Security number before you upload. Grok Bot does not need it to make your list. The guide shows you how to black it out the safe way.
Where do my tax files go?
They stay in your own Google Drive, in a folder called Taxes. We (The Butler) never see them. When you finish, Grok Bot asks to delete any copies left on its own computer.
What do I need?
Needs a Grok Bot plan (Premium or higher) from x.ai. You also need the Grok Bot app on your computer, Google Drive, and last year's tax return as a PDF. Gmail helps but is not a must.
Does Grok Bot file my taxes?
No. This guide never files anything. You and your preparer decide and file.
Can I try it before I use my real papers?
Yes. You get free SAMPLE practice files with made-up names and numbers. Run the guide on them first. The guide has an answer key so you can see what a good run finds.
