Grok Bot Midweek Meal Plan Check
The Midweek check routine is part of The Butler's Meals room. It runs wednesdays on Grok Bot and swaps if plans changed.
It uses Google Drive, Shopping room. Nothing is sent, paid, or deleted without your approval.
Deciding what's for dinner every night, rebuilding the grocery list every week, and cooking twice for picky eaters.
What the Midweek check routine does
Swaps if plans changed. It is one of the routines in the Meals room (I plan dinners from what's actually on hand and send the missing items to Shopping.).
- Keeps an On-hand list from your photos of the fridge and pantry, or from what you type.
- Plans the week's dinners using what's on hand first, within your rules.
- Sends missing ingredients to the Shopping list once you approve the plan.
- Puts tonight's dinner, and anything to thaw, in the morning briefing.
The routine instruction
This is the wording from The Butler's Meals room PDF. Square-bracket fields are filled in during setup. Replace the bracketed parts with your own details.
- "Midweek check": Wednesdays at 4:00 PM. Ask whether anything ran out or plans changed, and propose swaps.
Connectors it needs
- Google Drive (required): Holds the On-hand list, meal plans, and saved recipes.
- Shopping room (recommended): Receives the missing items.
Grok Bot 101 lists Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive as connectors and says you can connect more than one account per service.
How to set it up
- Connect the accounts above from Connect apps.
- Run the job once in chat and correct the output until it's right.
- Ask Grok Bot to save it as a routine at the time you want, and check the instruction and schedule it writes.
- Pause it any time; the changelog (v0.52.0) added pause and resume for routines.
House rules: what it always asks first
- Ask first before any purchase or checkout.
Limits to know
- Allergy rules depend on the information you give. Always check labels yourself.
- No nutrition or medical advice.
Try saying
- "Here's the fridge." (attach a photo)
- "Something quick tonight with what we have."
- "Swap Thursday, we'll be out."
Other routines in the Meals room
- Weekly meal plan (Weekly, your plan day): Next week's dinners and missing items. Waits for your yes.
- Morning briefing section (Daily): Tonight's dinner and anything to thaw.
Frequently asked questions
How often does the Midweek check routine run?
By default: wednesdays. You choose the exact time during setup, and each run uses your Grok Bot usage, so fewer runs cost less.
Will the Midweek check routine send or pay anything on its own?
No. The Butler's house rules require your approval before anything is sent, paid, deleted, or shared.
Where does the result show up?
In the Bot's chat, and the relevant items are folded into The Butler's morning briefing.
