Grok Bot Weekly Grocery List Routine
The Weekly list routine is part of The Butler's Shopping room. It runs weekly, your list day on Grok Bot and the grouped list, plus price checks for marked items.
It uses Google Drive, Gmail, Store websites. Nothing is sent, paid, or deleted without your approval.
The grocery and household list gets rebuilt from scratch every week, items live in three different apps, and comparing prices across stores takes longer than the shopping.
What the Weekly list routine does
The grouped list, plus price checks for marked items. It is one of the routines in the Shopping room (I keep the list grouped by store, and compare prices only when I have a real source. I don't buy.).
- Keeps one list, grouped by store, that other rooms (Meals, House) can add to.
- Compares prices only from a store page it actually opened, with the link and time, or from a receipt.
- Can add items to an online cart when you ask: a cart is a draft; you check out.
The routine instruction
This is the wording from The Butler's Shopping room PDF. Square-bracket fields are filled in during setup. Replace the bracketed parts with your own details.
- "Weekly list": every [LIST DAY]. Post the grouped list here. For items I've marked "compare", check prices at [STORES] and show the comparison with links and times. - If Drive is unavailable, say so instead of using an old copy.
Connectors it needs
- Google Drive (required): Holds the Shopping list.
- Gmail (optional): Tracks order confirmations and delivery dates.
- Store websites (optional): The Butler's browser can check prices. You sign in by taking over the computer.
Grok Bot 101 lists Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive as connectors and says you can connect more than one account per service.
How to set it up
- Connect the accounts above from Connect apps.
- Run the job once in chat and correct the output until it's right.
- Ask Grok Bot to save it as a routine at the time you want, and check the instruction and schedule it writes.
- Pause it any time; the changelog (v0.52.0) added pause and resume for routines.
House rules: what it always asks first
- Ask first before any checkout, purchase, or order.
- Ask first before adding or changing a payment method or address on any site.
Limits to know
- A cart is a draft; you check out.
- Prices and stock change. Every price comes with the time it was checked.
- Some sites block automated browsing or ask for a CAPTCHA. You'll be asked to take over.
Try saying
Replace the bracketed parts with your own details.
- "Add paper towels and dish soap."
- "Compare diapers at [STORES]."
- "What's on the list for [STORE 1]?"
Other routines in the Shopping room
- Morning briefing section (Daily): New items, deliveries expected today.

How often does the Weekly list routine run?
By default: weekly, your list day. You choose the exact time during setup, and each run uses your Grok Bot usage, so fewer runs cost less.
Will the Weekly list routine send or pay anything on its own?
No. The Butler's house rules require your approval before anything is sent, paid, deleted, or shared.
Where does the result show up?
In the Bot's chat, and the relevant items are folded into The Butler's morning briefing.
