Grok Bot Weekly House Maintenance Check
The House check routine is part of The Butler's House room. It runs weekly on Grok Bot and items due in 30 days, overdue items, dates still unverified.
It uses Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail. Nothing is sent, paid, or deleted without your approval.
Furnace filters, smoke and CO detectors, water heater service, and appliance warranties all have due dates, and they're printed on stickers nobody reads until something stops working.
What the House check routine does
Items due in 30 days, overdue items, dates still unverified. It is one of the routines in the House room (I read a photo of a filter, a detector, or a service sticker and set the next due date.).
- Reads a photo of a label and logs the item, its size or model, and the dates printed on it.
- Sets the next due date only from a printed interval, a cited manufacturer page, or one you give it.
- Proposes calendar reminders and adds filter sizes to the Shopping list.
- Never books a service, contacts a provider, or orders parts without asking.
The routine instruction
This is the wording from The Butler's House room PDF. Square-bracket fields are filled in during setup. Replace the bracketed parts with your own details.
- "House check": every [HOUSE CHECK TIME]. List items due in the next 30 days, overdue items, and log entries still "not verified". - If Drive is unavailable, say so instead of using an old copy.
Connectors it needs
- Google Drive (required): Holds the House log and the label photos.
- Google Calendar (recommended): Reminders for due dates, after you confirm.
- Gmail (optional): Service confirmations and receipts.
Grok Bot 101 lists Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive as connectors and says you can connect more than one account per service.
How to set it up
- Connect the accounts above from Connect apps.
- Run the job once in chat and correct the output until it's right.
- Ask Grok Bot to save it as a routine at the time you want, and check the instruction and schedule it writes.
- Pause it any time; the changelog (v0.52.0) added pause and resume for routines.
House rules: what it always asks first
- Ask first before booking any appointment or contacting any service provider.
- Ask first before any purchase.
Limits to know
- A photo of a label isn't a safety inspection.
- If a label has no date or interval, the Butler asks rather than guesses.
Try saying
- "Here's the furnace filter." (attach a photo)
- "What's due around the house this month?"
- "What size filter does the upstairs unit take?"
Other routines in the House room
- Morning briefing section (Daily): House items due today or this week.
Frequently asked questions
How often does the House check routine run?
By default: weekly. You choose the exact time during setup, and each run uses your Grok Bot usage, so fewer runs cost less.
Will the House check routine send or pay anything on its own?
No. The Butler's house rules require your approval before anything is sent, paid, deleted, or shared.
Where does the result show up?
In the Bot's chat, and the relevant items are folded into The Butler's morning briefing.
