Stripe Link and Grok Bot: purchase cards for families

By Robby Thurston ·

Quick answer

The Grok Bot changelog says that when a Bot wants to buy something, a card shows the amount for you to Allow or Deny, then Link completes the payment (v0.30.0). Later releases added choosing a saved card from your Link wallet (v0.33.0) and paying with X Money or Stripe Link (v0.70.2).

The Butler's house rules still tell your Bot never to pay bills; the Ledger lists them and you pay.

What the changelog says about Link purchases

How The Butler treats purchases at home

The Butler's Ledger room is built to name bills, due dates, and repeat charges, and to never pay anything. Shopping keeps a list and checks prices only on items you mark. If a purchase card ever appears, it is a decision for you, not the Bot.

A house rule you can paste

Never start a purchase or payment. If you think something should be bought, add it to the Shopping list and tell me. Deny any purchase card I did not ask for.

Grok Bot 101 says rules are written in natural language in Settings > General > Agent, and a separate review agent can allow, block, or escalate actions to you.

Frequently asked questions

Can Grok Bot pay with Stripe Link?

Yes, according to the changelog: a purchase card shows the amount, you Allow or Deny, and Link completes the payment.

Will The Butler pay my bills with Link?

No. The Butler's Ledger lists bills and due dates; you pay them yourself.

What happens if I ignore a purchase card?

The changelog says unanswered purchases are marked Expired, and approving an expired one asks for a fresh purchase.
