How to write Grok Bot permissions for your family
Grok Bot 101 says you write a Bot's rules in natural language in Settings > General > Agent. A separate review agent checks proposed actions and can allow, block, or escalate to you; allow and block lists steer that reviewer.
Steps
- Open Settings > General > Agent.
- Write what the Bot may do freely (read, sort, draft, list).
- Write what always needs you (send, pay, delete, share, change accounts).
- Add specific allow or block entries for anything you keep approving or never want.
- Test: ask the Bot to do something on the ask-first list and confirm it stops to ask.
Family house rules you can adapt
- Read, sort, summarize, and draft freely.
- Ask first before sending any email or message to anyone.
- Ask first before deleting, moving, renaming, or sharing any file.
- Never pay, buy, or start a purchase.
- Never store, ask for, or change a password.
- Ask first before typing into any sign-in or account settings page.
These mirror the ask-first rules in The Butler's rooms. Grok Bot 101 also warns that if you log into a site with one bot, every other bot can reach that site too, so keep shopping and bank logins off the shared computer unless you mean it.
