Nest and Google Home

By Robby Thurston ·

Quick answer

Google Nest devices are reachable through Google's Device Access program, a developer route that requires registration and a non-refundable US$5 fee per account according to Google.

The Google Home app and its automations don't have a consumer connector for Grok Bot. Google's Home APIs target developers building apps.

The setup, in short

The Smart Home & Alexa guide covers:

The house rule in every Butler guide: the bot reads, sorts, files, tracks, and drafts. It asks first before it sends, pays, deletes, or contacts anyone, and it never guesses a date or an amount.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Google connector include Nest?

No. Gmail, Calendar, and Drive connectors don't control devices.

Is the US$5 refundable?

Google says it's non-refundable.

Can it view camera video?

We don't recommend it; keep cameras out of scope.
