Ring, Hue, and ecobee

By Robby Thurston ·

Quick answer

These three show the range. Philips Hue runs a developer program. ecobee publishes an API. Ring has no public API that we found, but IFTTT lists a Ring service.

For all three, IFTTT plus a Grok Bot webhook routine is the common bridge, with each vendor's own app still doing the device control.

What's possible

Why it matters

Picking the right bridge per brand saves time.

The setup, in short

The Smart Home & Alexa guide covers:

The house rule in every Butler guide: the bot reads, sorts, files, tracks, and drafts. It asks first before it sends, pays, deletes, or contacts anyone, and it never guesses a date or an amount.

Frequently asked questions

Can the bot watch my Ring video?

No, and we wouldn't set that up.

Hue bridge is local; does that matter?

Yes. The bot is in the cloud, so it needs a cloud route.

Is IFTTT required?

For Ring, practically yes.
