What Grok Bot can't do at home
We'd rather tell you now than after you've spent a weekend. Grok Bot is an agent with a cloud computer, connectors, and a browser. That covers a lot, but not everything.
Everything below is based on xAI's official Grok Bot pages and each vendor's own documentation, checked October 15, 2026. Features change; check the changelog.
What's possible
- Alexa: no connector (IFTTT + webhook routine is the bridge)
- Google Photos library: no connector found (use Drive)
- Local-only smart devices: unreachable from the cloud
- Automaker apps: no connectors
- Amazon: no API (email + browser)
- Ring: no public API (IFTTT)
- Anything needing your 2FA or CAPTCHA: you take over
Why it matters
Knowing the limits is how you build something that keeps working.

The setup, in short
The Google Home Base Setup guide covers:
- Where each gap sits
- The bridge, if any
The house rule in every Butler guide: the bot reads, sorts, files, tracks, and drafts. It asks first before it sends, pays, deletes, or contacts anyone, and it never guesses a date or an amount.
Frequently asked questions
Will these change?
Possibly. The Grok Bot changelog is the place to watch.
Can I build my own connector?
Grok Bot supports MCP servers; a technical user can connect one.
Is the browser a workaround for everything?
It's real, but sign-ins, 2FA, and site terms still apply, and you approve anything that buys or sends.
